PALM BEACH COUNTY SEMINOLE CLUB, INC.
PO Box 14653, North Palm Beach, FL 33408
www.pbnoles.com
WHO WE ARE
PALM BEACH COUNTY SEMINOLE CLUB, INC. is one of more than 60 Booster/Alumni clubs
throughout the world. This local group of 'Noles who started approximately 30 years
ago, has grown from a handful to over 200 local dues paying members, and is part
of a large base of alumni in Palm Beach County. From its humble beginnings, the
local club has grown to be one of the largest clubs and has been recognized as the
Outstanding Seminole Club in its class several times. Broadly, our mission is twofold.
We provide an environment for local FSU functions to benefit our graduates, boosters,
parents, future 'Noles and friends of FSU. Also, we enhance the local visibility
of FSU so as to attract the very best local students.
WHAT WE DO
During football season, we have "Game Watch parties" for televised games. If you
can't be in Doak Campbell Stadium doing the 'war chant', the next best thing is
to be with local fans cheering our team to victory. We have held "War parties" during
the season where we have hosted special guests like the FSU President, Varsity Coaches,
Ann Bowden and many members of the FSU family, who bring a little bit of Tallahassee
to south Florida. We have organized "bus trips" to watch the 'Noles in action to
Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville and yes, even Gainesville. We host a "New Student Reception"
for newly accepted students who will be attending FSU in the fall. At this event,
parents and students can ask questions and get information from both Student Affairs
personnel, current students and recent grads. Our FSCW/Emeritus Luncheon for alumni
and friends who attended FSU 50 or more years ago is a cheerful, casual and fun
activity where the grads can hear about the current events and changes to the university.
Our newest event is a Family Fun Fest, a spring picnic in a park where the entire
family can get together with fellow 'Noles and enjoy games, food, music & camaraderie.
We have walked as a Seminole team in the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure. We, as
Seminoles, love to show our community spirit. We collected books for a Literacy
Project, and donated them to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. We also
hosted receptions for FSU President, T.K. Wetherell when he took over and Basketball
coach Leonard Hamilton when he came to FSU.
Bobby Bowden Tour
Each spring, we have the privilege to have Coach Bowden as our guest to participate
in the annual golf tournament. For more than 20 years, it has drawn up to over 30
foursomes at a local club and is followed by an awards luncheon. Our Seminoles love
to join together to welcome Bobby, Charlie Barnes (Seminole Boosters Executive Director),
other notables and special guests for lunch. A great time is had by all!
SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, we award 2 scholarships to local Community College graduates who will
attend FSU to complete their education. Our continual fund raising pays for these
scholarships, named after former active 'Noles in Palm Beach County, Bill McLaren
& Sandy Brubaker.
LOCAL FUND RAISING
Our $20.00 annual club dues supports our newsletter, "Palm Beach Tribe", mailings
for special events and our Internet Website. We are also fortunate to have a special
group of 'Noles who are our Corporate Sponsors. Funds generated at Club special
events are used for the following:
- Maintaining a $6000 per year 'Golden Chief" status with the National Seminole Boosters.
- Participating as a member of the FSU Foundation's Presidents Club.
- Purchasing season tickets, which are used throughout the year as prizes at club
functions.
- Support of various programs at FSU that have requested local assistance.
